The SMS reads: “We’re doing some updates. You will not be able to send or receive payments by phone, internet, or mobile banking on Sunday, August 1st from 00:05 to 5:00, but you can still use your card in stores, online or at an ATM. “

High street branches across the country have been given new signs, the mobile banking app has been renamed, and customers have also seen the Virgin brand roll out online across its product portfolio.
However, Mr Abrahams has been unable to give long-term guarantees for the future of the Clydesdale banknotes, which will be the last visible trace of the historic Scottish brand once they are integrated under the Virgin umbrella.
“We’re still printing them, but I won’t predict the future,” he said.
