Clydesdale Bank and Virgin Money have texted customers to warn them that they will not be able to access certain account features and functions this weekend due to a service update.
The banks have also announced that phone, internet and mobile banking services will be unavailable for nearly seven hours on Sunday, November 7th, on their respective websites, which will appear when a customer tries to log in log into his internet banking account.
The planned update means that customers will not be able to send or receive payments by phone, internet or mobile banking in the early hours of the Sunday morning.

However, the announcement also states that customers will still be able to use their debit card in stores, online and at ATMs during the system update.
The message to customers is: “We are updating our services. On Sunday, November 7th, we will update our telephone, internet and mobile banking services so that you will not be able to use them between 00:05 and 07:00. However, you can still use your debit card in stores, online and at ATMs. “
The so-called “Challenger” banking group recently announced that the name change from Clydesdale Bank to Virgin Money has largely been completed.
CFO Clifford Abrahams said the process of removing the Clydesdale name and Yorkshire Bank south of the border was “fairly complete”.
High street branches across the country have been given new signs, the mobile banking app has been renamed, and customers have also seen the Virgin brand roll out online across its product portfolio.

However, Mr Abrahams has been unable to give long-term guarantees for the future of the Clydesdale banknotes, which will be the last visible trace of the historic Scottish brand once they are integrated under the Virgin umbrella.
