Let’s Go Crazy

Urban Decay Let’s Go Crazy Prince Eyeshadow PaletteUrban Decay Let’s Go Crazy Prince Eyeshadow Palette ($55.00 for 0.26 oz.) is a new, limited edition 10-pan eyeshadow palette that opens from the center. The palette included three matte eyeshadows and seven shimmer eyeshadows (which varied from pearl to sparkle). The quality was a miss, and I’d say that it was worse than I’ve come to expect from Urban Decay at that! I’ve seen these types of purples from Urban Decay before, and I know they can do them justice, but they missed here.

Alphabet St.

Alphabet St. is a very light, pinkish-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. While silky and soft to the touch, it was somewhat powdery with a tendency to sheer out when it was already more medium to semi-opaque in coverage. I had a tough time building up the coverage, even when used over the brand’s primer. It lasted for seven hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$19.00/0.06 oz. – $316.67 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have “high-pigment” with “ultra-smooth color payoff with maximum blendability” while being long-wearing. The brand is confusing, as they claim “up to 12 hours.”

The majority of the shades I tested were pigmented–semi-opaque to opaque–with the matte finish having the most variance. The lighter matte shades tended to be thinner, more powdery, and sheerer as a result of those texture differences. The more satin-to-pearl shimmer shades tended to be thinner, too, and they sometimes applied more unevenly or had to be built up. The higher-sheen shimmer shades tended to be pigmented, lightly creamy, and blendable with good adhesion.

They wore between eight and nine hours on average, which is solid wear time but similar to a lot of other powder eyeshadows for me, so it wasn’t extra long-wearing in context.

In comparison to the last iteration of the brand’s eyeshadow formula, it did not feel vastly different. The mattes seemed a little thinner and a touch more powdery, while the shimmers were a touch thicker on average with some of the more pearl-like finishes having weaker coverage and felt too firmly-pressed into the pan and looked thinner on, so they weren’t as flattering to wear.

Get Yo Groove On

Get Yo Groove On is a medium, pinky lavender with warm undertones and cooler, bluish pearl. The eyeshadow had medium color coverage that applied somewhat evenly, but the firmer, stiffer consistency was thin and harder to pick up and press onto my lid. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

When Doves Cry

When Doves Cry is a pale white with iridescent blue shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage with a drier, somewhat powdery texture that had a tendency to cling to skin texture (e.g. dry lids, if one has them!). I had better luck using it with a dampened brush as it helped to keep it smooth on my skin. It lasted well for seven hours before fading visibly.

Funknroll

Funknroll is a muted, light-medium purple with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had an incredibly powdery consistency, which resulted in sheer to semi-sheer pigmentation that applied unevenly, had a lot of fallout, and did not build up. It did not perform much better over the brand’s primer. There were signs of fading after six hours of wear.

Computer Blue

Computer Blue is a light cornflower blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was prone to sheering out as the texture was moderately powdery, though denser and very finely-milled–less dry and thin compared to recent matte eyeshadows from the brand. I would recommend pairing it with a primer, though. It wore decently for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Raspberry Beret

Raspberry Beret is a medium red with warm, orange undertones and a soft, sparkling sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, moderately dense texture that was creamy without being too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan. This shade lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Baby I’m a Star

Baby I’m a Star is a medium-dark purple base with neutral undertones and a warmer mix of multi-colored micro-sparkle. It had a smoother finish and held together better on my skin–with less fallout–than I expected given the texture felt a little drier and thinner in the pan, so it was almost stiff to work with. I’d recommend applying it with a dampened brush to get a more even, nuanced effect as it looked faded after blending it out dry. It wore well for seven hours before fading visibly.

Delirious is a medium purple with warmer undertones and fine pearl. Indigo Nights

Indigo Nights is a light-medium, steely blue with cool undertones and a sparkling finish. The consistency was moderately emollient with larger flecks of sparkle, so there was some fallout when blended out, but there was less when pressed and packed onto the lid with a fingertip. It had semi-opaque color coverage that stayed on well for seven and a half hours with light fallout over time.

Formula Overview
