BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhuanet) – The following is a summary of published science and technology news from China.

SHENZHOU-13

The combination of the Shenzhou-13 manned spacecraft and a Long March-2F launcher has been relocated to the launch area, and the spacecraft will be launched at a convenient time in the near future, the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) said Thursday.

The facilities and equipment at the launch site are in good condition, various functional tests before the launch and joint tests are being carried out as planned, the CMSA announced.

PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR SPACE DECLARATIONS

The long stay of the Chinese astronauts in the space station and frequent interaction with the public have inspired extensive support and a vision for space exploration in the country.

China’s space agencies are trying just as hard on the ground as they are in space. During the final back-to-school season in September 2021, they organized activities to popularize space in middle schools, universities and museums to inspire future generations.

ENDANGERED PLANT SPECIES

A taxus wallichiana var. Wallichiana, a rare and critically endangered species of plant, was discovered in a nature reserve in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, local forest and grassland authorities said.

The plant was recently found by forest workers in the Changning Lancang River County Nature Reserve in Baoshan City.
