SEED COLLECTION MISSION
Chinese scientists recently completed a seed-collecting mission on Mount Qomolangma, according to the Germplasm Bank of Wild Species, a comprehensive national database for the collection and conservation of wildlife germplasm resources in China.
The team successfully collected seeds from several plants such as Cruchimalaya himalaica and Saussurea gnaphalodes at an altitude of approximately 6,200 meters, setting a new record for plant seed collection at the highest altitude in China.
SPACE REFUELING VEHICLE
A space refueling vehicle built by China celebrated its premiere at the current 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2021).
The lifespan of satellites could be extended thanks to the space refueling vehicle.
Equipped with a navigation system consisting of radar and camera, the vehicle can track and approach the fuel-efficient satellite under the guidance of the ground control system.
CHINAS “SILICONE VALLEY”
Large high-tech companies in Beijing’s Zhongguancun, known as “Silicon Valley” in China, posted year-over-year growth in total sales of 27.8 percent in the first eight months of this year, according to statistics.
These large corporations had revenues of 5.2 trillion yuan (approximately $ 807 billion) in January-August, according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
Companies in the fields of electronics and information, bioengineering and new medical technologies showed high growth, it said.
