Satellite launch

China sent a remote sensing satellite group into orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Friday.

The satellites belonging to the Yaogan-30 family are used for electromagnetic environment detection and related technological tests.

FOSSIL DISCOVERY

A team of Chinese paleontologists discovered an early Jurassic fossil of a young dinosaur in southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

The specimen was about 1.7 meters long, and the shape of its teeth suggested that the dinosaur was herbivorous, according to the study published in the journal Acta Geologica Sinica.

RESEARCH ICEBREAKER

China’s research icebreaker Xuelong 2 or Snow Dragon 2 completed the country’s 37th Antarctic expedition on Friday and returned to its home port in Shanghai.

Xuelong 2 has covered more than 36,000 nautical miles in the past 179 days. It carried out rescue operations for international Antarctic expedition members and forged international cooperation in the supply of materials for the Antarctic expedition.
