BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhuanet) – The following is a summary of published science and technology news from China.

SCIENTIST EXCELLENT

Two Chinese scientists, aircraft designer Gu Songfen and nuclear expert Wang Dazhong, were awarded the highest science award in China on Wednesday for their outstanding contributions to scientific and technological innovation.

The ceremony, held in Beijing to honor outstanding scientists, engineers, and research achievements, was attended by approximately 3,000 people and honored 264 projects, of which 46 received the State Natural Science Award, 61 the State Technological Invention Award, and 157 the State Scientific and Technology received progress award.

IPR PROTECTION

China recently released a Comprehensive Intellectual Property Protection and Application Plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) highlighting innovation, application and protection in the sector, according to the IPR authorities.

The plan is a blueprint with detailed goals and actions for the country to move towards strengthening its intellectual property commitments, the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA) said.

PROTECTION OF CULTURAL RELICS

China will improve the use of sci-tech in protecting cultural relics during the country’s 14th five-year plan (2021-2025), an official from the Ministry of Science and Technology said.

A plan for the protection of cultural relics and scientific and technological innovation is published. China will continuously strengthen basic research and interdisciplinary research in order to deepen the understanding of civilization and cultural goods and to improve the theoretical system of cultural property protection.

REMOTE CONTROL OF SATELLITES

China launched a group of remote sensing satellites from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Wednesday.

The second group of the Yaogan-32 satellite family was launched at 3:43 p.m. (Beijing time) by a Long March-2C rocket with attached upper stage and reached the planned orbit.
