Chanel Or Noir (17) Ombre Premiere Lacquer ($ 36.00 for 0.2 oz.) Is a deeper black with warmer undertones and flecks of gold, lavender, and silver sparkling all over the place. It had a semi-transparent paint cover in a single layer, and I found it was best applied with a flat, synthetic brush pressed down onto the lid for the first layer.

After the first coat was allowed to dry, it was good to use the supplied applicator to apply additional paint where greater coverage was desired without disturbing the first coat. The texture was very fluid and thin, which was probably one of the reasons it tended to fall out at first. It took a good nine hours without fading or falling.

The formula should have a “glossy, buildable color” that can be “easily wiped off with the fingertips” or with the “enclosed applicator”. I would argue that most shades were semi-opaque to opaque in a single layer, and the liquid format made them light enough to pull out more of the described “haze” of shimmer. I found them to be used both as stand-alone eyeshadows and to be applied over other products or as a shimmer wash.

The consistency was light, more watery at first, but solidified to a transfer-resistant finish within 10 to 20 seconds. The shimmer in the formula appeared to be finer, so even though it had a sheen and sparkle, it was smoother on my skin and easier to spread and spread for an even result. They lasted over 10 hours without fading, peeling, or wrinkling, but if you mix more moderately with a brush once dry, you risk peeling (not uncommon when something is fully set, but always worth mentioning). .

Chanel Or Ambre (27) Ombre Premiere Lacquer ($ 36.00 for 0.2 oz.) Is a rich, deeper gold with strong, warm orange tones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which made it easier to work with than some of the brand’s other liquid eyeshadows (which are more transparent and may require more manipulation to even out).

I also found it was mixable and could be cut out for a golden shimmer / shine if needed. The texture was light, thin, and very fluid, but it dried quite quickly so it didn’t form fine lines as it dried. It lasted a good 10 hours without fading or wrinkling.
