Chanel Eclosion (134) Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme ($ 40.00 for 0.12 oz.) Is a lighter, medium pink coral with moderate, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. The consistency felt more velvety, a little denser and a touch on the thicker side.

The lipstick wasn’t applied as evenly as it could, and it tended to bunch up and almost “pill” in places. From a normal viewing distance, it didn’t look too bad as if everything sounded, but it was there in close-up. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that lasted four and a half hours and didn’t feel drying to the touch.

The formula is said to “glide smoothly onto lips with intense, long-lasting color” that is “non-drying”. It’s a comfortable formula with a velvety glide – smooth, creamy, without being wet or slippery and forgiving of most lip textures / lip lines.

The finish is semi-matte, although it wears away to a truly matte finish with dabbing or after about an hour of wear and tear. They have a semi-opaque to opaque cover that was applied evenly and lasted well for five to six hours and wasn’t dry to the touch (I found it very slightly moisturizing, in fact).

Chanel Pivoine Noire (136) Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme ($ 40.00 for 0.12 oz.) Is a medium-dark, slightly muted red with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. The texture was denser, more velvety and felt very heavy on the silicone, although the actual feel on my lips was lighter, but not as thin as I would have expected.

These types of formulas may hit or miss as they often accentuate my lip texture but applied that particular shade evenly and smoothly to my lips and didn’t emphasize my lip lines or imperfections. It stayed good for five hours, leaving a faint stain, and not drying.
