Chanel Burst (142) Rouge Coco Bloom lip color ($ 40.00 for 0.11 oz.) Is a rich, medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a lighter, ruby-red pearl that gave it a soft, pearly sheen. It had mostly an opaque color coverage in a single layer that could be built up to complete coverage with a second stroke.

The texture was smooth, light, and slightly creamy – not quite as balsamic or pliable as other hues, but better because it distributed the color and pearl evenly. It wore well for four and a half hours, was slightly moisturizing to the touch, and left a faint stain.

The formula is said to have “intense color” and a “high gloss finish” that is “long-lasting” and “moisturizing”. The majority of the shades had a semi-opaque to opaque coverage, with some having a more translucent coverage. The color is usually applied evenly and evenly to my lips without puffing or noticeably settling in my lip lines.

The texture was pliable, more like a lipstick and lip balm hybrid with moderate slip and a tendency to be more yielding as it warmed against my lips, though it didn’t start out stiff or firm either. I found that most of the shades flattered my lips as they tend to be more forgiving of imperfections in texture.

While they weren’t particularly long-lasting – more like three to five hours of deeper red-based hues that lasted the longest – they were comfortable, moisturizing, and not prone to leakage / bleeding. They had a floral scent, but no discernible taste.

It had a semi-opaque pigmentation with a translucency that gave it a more balm-like appearance, so even though it was not opaque, it was still a richer color level in practice.

The consistency felt smooth, slightly creamy to the touch, and had moderate slip which ensured it was comfortable to apply and wear. I didn’t find it feathery or bleeding on me, though I’m not prone to either. It took a good five hours, left a faint stain, and was moisturizing.
