BRENDAN RODGERS claims Leicester has the support of all the neutrals in the country for Saturday’s FA Cup final with Chelsea.

The Foxes boss believes he is in charge of the “folk club” as the Foxes are trying to win the trophy for the first time in their 137-year history.

Chelsea is a member of the Big Six, whose failed Super League project last month attracted more supporters to the plotters.

Rodgers, whose club also conquered the hearts of the nation and caught the imagination with his Prem title triumph in 2015/16, said: “We would like to continue growing and be the people’s club.

“We want to be the club that other fans across the country see and we hope their club can make a Leicester.

“People will look at Chelsea versus Leicester and see us as underdogs and in most areas of life everyone likes to see the underdog do well.

“It was pretty clear with the conversation about the Super League and Super Clubs and how they were defined.

“The story here since winning the title is one that has gone around the world. We tried to create our own map and make the club sustainable.

“I feel that there is a lot of goodwill for a club like us to challenge the game’s elite. We are the pioneers for the clubs outside the top 6. “

Leicester is playing in its first FA Cup final since 1969, having lost all four of its final finals.

Claudio Ranieri was manager when they took the Prem title five years ago, and Rodgers put them back in the Prem top 4 this season.

And he believes that the whole city aims high.

Rodgers, 48, added, “I see Leicester as a city this year and you have the Leicester Riders basketball team that’s in the play-offs and won their first play-off game.

“Then Mark Selby won the World Snooker Championship and he’s a Leicester boy.

“We also have the Leicester City women’s team that has moved up to the first tier.

“Hopefully we can bring all of their successes together at Wembley and achieve something special for the city too.”
