Becca Scattering (1) Light Shifter Finishing VeilBecca Scattering (1) Light Shifter Finishing Veil ($ 34.00 for 0.25 oz.) Is a light, pale yellow with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. For swatching, I built up the swatch on the left to get a better idea of the color, as – as is commercially available – it was a pure powder and otherwise would have been difficult to see against my skin tone!
The powder itself met many of its claims; it set my makeup in place, created a satin-like finish that breathed some life into a matte base or helped suppress the moisture of a more luminous base, and extended the wear and tear of my makeup from an hour to an hour and a half . It never looked powdery and it neither raised my base nor caked it with foundations with higher coverage.
The problem I had was trying to use the product over time as it developed a hard pan very easily and when powder was used to set, often a liquid or cream colored base, part of the base becomes on top the pan of the setting powder transfer time. I had to use a paper towel to regularly rub the cured surface in order to keep using the product, resulting in product waste and an extra step that should be unnecessary.

It should be a “weightless setting powder” that has a “filter effect” and a “satin finish”. The coverage should be “plain”, which I would agree, but it had enough coverage that the wrong shade visibly changed the undertone or depth of my skin, and it was better to err on the lighter side than go dark in my experience.
I felt it worked fine when I could ingest the product, but the product was squeezed tighter into the pan and seemed to get more and more solid with later use. It really ate up all of the oils, creams, liquids, etc. that were transferred onto my brush. It is not uncommon to see traces of a liquid or cream-based foundation when using setting powder. So I was disappointed that the powder was so reactive. I had to use a paper towel to rub the surface and re-dissolve the powder so I could pick up the product with my brush.
Ignoring the texture problem, the powder had a satin-like finish when applied to my skin so it could add more skin-like finish when used on a matte base and suppress the sheen of a moister base (like the coordinating one Dewing Tint). It was applied evenly, didn’t get cakey or looked powdery on my skin, and it added about an hour to my base’s wear and tear.
