Anna Karen, 85 – who played Aunt Sal in the BBC soap, sister of Dame Barbara’s fan favorite Peggy Mitchell – will inherit £ 1,000. Anna rose to fame as Olive in the 1970s classic sitcom On the Buses and befriended Babs after appearing in two carry-on films.

Babs also left her sister-in-law Marsha Alexander and husband Laurence £ 5,000, and £ 2,000 each to cousins Leslie Larsen and Julie Elliot.

The remainder of her £ 4.63 million estate went to 58-year-old husband Scott, whom she married in 2000.

The Sun announced in March that it had inherited the company it used for its nearly £ 1 million TV payment.

Babs also left £ 1,000 each to seven charities – the NSPCC, Breast Cancer Care, Help The Aged, the showbiz organization Grand Order Of Lady Ratlings, the National Osteoporisis Society, the Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Soldiers in Headley Court and Age UK.

The star’s gift to Age UK is particularly poignant as she worked closely with the charity to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease after she was diagnosed in 2014.

In 2019, Barbara turned a petition with more than 100,000 signatures on Downing Street, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson kissed her on the cheek as she asked him to fix the “devastating condition” of dementia care.

After her death, a statement by Prince Charles and Camilla called her “a great British actress and tireless charity campaigner whom we will miss dearly”.

Due to Covid restrictions, only 30 mourners attended Dame Barbara’s funeral in Golders Green, northwest London.
