Mitch – who is played by actor Roger Griffiths in the BBC Soap – and Karen have been in dire straits since she lost her laundromat job and benefits.

Next week, Bailey realizes the strain her family is under and kindly offers Karen the change from the last deal she did for her late mother before she died.
Karen is appalled by Bailey’s offer and insists she keep the change and promises not to worry.
Later, Bailey’s teacher Isaac realizes she seems insecure and tells her to think about number one.

A wretched Mitch tells Karen that he can’t afford to pay for Bailey’s storage room because he can’t find a job.
Karen knows Bailey will be gutted and makes a quick comment to Mitch about Bailey being better off taking care of himself.
However, Bailey overheard everything without their knowing it.

The next day, Bailey still wavers from what she heard Karen say – and tells Mitch and Karen that the space storage facility has announced that it will now pay the winner’s expense.
