With the deadly second wave of Covid-19 in India, scammers are finding unique ways to take advantage of the situation. In one case, scammers call people claiming to be offering drugs. You may need to be aware of the situation to avoid falling into the trap amid the pandemic.
The State Bank of India (SBI) warns internet users and has a special message for everyone. The state bank has asked their customers to verify payment and then pay when they receive random calls selling drugs.
SBI pointed out that scammers have tried to scam people by offering drugs during these times of need. The bank has also urged its customers to remain vigilant about such annoying phone calls and avoid the well-spun scam by not making payment without confirmation.
The State Bank of India tweeted on the microblogging website Twitter: “Stay safe from Covid and fraudsters! We have noticed that scammers are trying to lure people in by offering life-saving and other drugs while asking them to transfer money to their bank account. ”
“We encourage people to review these claims and make informed decisions. Stay vigilant, stay safe, ”SBI tweeted. “Please make sure you verify the authenticity of the beneficiary you are dealing with before making a payment,” stated the State Bank of India.
Similarly, scammers run a separate scam designed to steal your personal information, including your debit or credit card details. In this case, they send malicious links through WhatsApp and offer a free subscription to the best video streaming platforms.
