New Delhi: Some Android users around the world, including India, had problems with apps on their Android devices on Tuesday, and Google said they are working on a solution.
Google has identified issues with Gmail on Android on the Google Workspace status page and has recommended using the desktop version until the issues are resolved.
“We are aware of an issue with Gmail that affects a significant number of users. The affected users cannot access Gmail. We will provide an update detailing when the problem can be expected to be resolved,” said google.
“Affected users can use the desktop Gmail web interface instead of the Gmail Android app,” advised the company.
Samsung also recognized the problem and suggested a solution.
“Please remove the Webview update and restart the phone,” tweeted Samsung from its Twitter account for US support.
The problem appears to be due to a system component called Android System WebView that allows Android apps to display web content.
Affected users reported that the Gmail app crashed on Android.
“Here are the steps: Go to Settings> Apps> tap the three dots in the top right corner> View System Apps> Search for Android System WebView> choose Uninstall Updates,” wrote Samsung.
