Buy new sneakers from New Balance – let’s say the new Fresh Foam 1080v11 is £ 135, for example – and get 1,350 Virgin Points when you shop through Virgin Red.
There is no official value for points in £, but they are roughly equivalent to a point of 1.2p – so about £ 16.20 if you were to buy these sneakers.

CLARE Needham, 40, who works in the pharmaceutical industry, used Virgin Red to buy things for herself, her husband Chris, 41, and their two sons Charlie, five, and Jack.

“I go to Etsy, an online handicraft marketplace. It’s only 1 point per £ 1 but when you send as many cards as I do it all adds up. “
She added, “We got 3,500 out of a couple of months – about 42 pounds. I can spend it for 200 points on sausage rolls at Greggs. But the ultimate goal is a flight to NY, that’s about 20,000. “
