They finally reached an agreement a few days ago after long arguments over cash and joint custody of their eight-year-old son Angelo.

Despite an initially very friendly breakup and a promise to avoid lawyers, the former couple used mediators to help set the terms of the deal.
And last Friday, almost two years after their split, they finally filed sealed papers confirming the agreed terms to LA court officials.
A source said: “It took a long time, but the sums of money and assets involved are absolutely huge.
“They made it very clear that they didn’t want to put lawyers on each other, but the process was still not easy. The priority was to make sure they please their son Angelo.
“The first thing they agreed on was sharing custody, and since then it has been about sharing the rest of their marital finances fairly.
Fortunately, they managed to get there without an explosive public trial, slanging match, or scandalous allegation about each other, and that gives them the best possible chance of staying on good terms in the future.

Figures show Adele is bringing in around £ 82,000 a day in royalties, which has made her a huge fortune – while Simon has amassed a smaller pile himself that is said to be in the region of £ 2 million.

At the Grammy Awards a year later, Adele confirmed they had tied the knot. During a gushing acceptance speech for the best album, she referred to Simon as her “husband”.
