CHINA’S SPACE STATION

China put the core module of its space station into planned orbit on April 29. The space station has a planned lifespan of ten years, but designers believe it could last over 15 years with appropriate maintenance and repair.

According to Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China’s manned space program, maintainability is one of the advantages of the space station over its predecessors. Maintenance and repairs can ensure the technological upgrade and long-term, reliable operation of the space station.

PULSAR RESEARCH

With the help of the world’s largest radio telescope, Chinese scientists have found the first indications of a three-dimensional (3D) spin-speed alignment in a pulsar.

The discovery sheds light on the mystery of the origin of pulsar spins and marks the beginning of in-depth pulsar research with China’s five hundred meter aperture radio telescope (FAST).

GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION PRODUCTS

According to the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA), China has approved 2,473 GI (Geographical Indication) products and registered 6,209 GI trademarks at the end of March.

In the first quarter of 2021, more than 1,400 companies were granted permission to use the geographical indications, an increase of 669 percent over the previous year.
