BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) – The following is a recap of the science and technology news released from China.

COVID-19 VACCINATION

A new COVID-19 vaccine developed by China’s Sinopharm was recently approved for clinical trials.

The new recombinant vaccine developed by the National Vaccine & Serum Institute, a research and development center of Sinopharm’s life sciences subsidiary, the China National Biotec Group (CNBG), is based on the structural features of the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the virus spike- Protein (S-protein).

The CNBG said the recombinant vaccine technology is mature and ready for large-scale production. Production does not require high biosafety facilities as there are no live viruses involved in the process.
