But they still finished 12 points behind rivals Manchester City and were eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage.

According to reports, Old Gunnar Solskjaer and Co. are poised to outsource several players to fund some big-name arrivals in the upcoming transfer window.

But who do the bookmakers think are the most likely names through the door?

Here SunSport takes a closer look at Manchester United’s FIVE goals and their likelihood of joining before September 3rd, as per the odds provided by Betfair.

Jadon Sancho – 5/6

It’s more likely than ever that Manchester United will finally win the signature of Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have tried to sign the Borussia Dortmund star for the past 18 months and the Bundesliga has asked for more than £ 108million.

However, given the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, reports suggest it is now worth £ 75 million.

Sports director Michael Zorc has already announced that there is a “gentlemanly agreement” in place that will allow the English star to leave this summer.

In addition, the German newspaper BILD claims that Dortmund have Lille winger Jonathan Ikone in their sights as a replacement.

Raphael Varane – 3/1

The French international is entering the final year of his contract, which will expire in June 2022.

There is no sign of an extension in the pipeline and sources close to the player claim he is ready for a new challenge overseas.

Madrid president Florentino Perez does not want to lose the center-back to a free transfer and plans to sell for around £ 60m this summer.

The Manchester Evening News claim United have already started exploratory talks with Varane officials but there are several other clubs in the running.

Jack Grealish – 4/1

Will United finally get the Aston Villa Maestro?

The Telegraph claims that some United players supported Grealish’s signing.

The 25-year-old signed a new five-year deal in September 2020 and is said to be worth over £ 100 million.

However, Solskjaer has made it clear to his players that Sancho remains his top priority.

Declan rice – 4/1

West Ham has absolutely no intention of leaving midfielder Declan Rice this summer.

At least that’s what manager David Moyes said after his team qualified for European football with sixth place.

Moyes told reporters, “I don’t think David Sullivan, David Gold or I have any intention of losing Declan Rice.”

Betfair are making it a 4/1 chance United will make the deal.

Erling Haaland – 8/1

The outsider of the field is Borussia Dortmund Talisman Erling Haaland at 8/1.

The Norwegian will be available for £ 68million next season but many thought Dortmund would do twice as much business this summer.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also in the running for Haaland, who scored 40 goals in his first full season in the Bundesliga.

However, due to the availability of Harry Kane, United were able to opt for the Tottenham striker instead.
