While sticking to a list and shopping for cheap items can be useful, the Australian shopper has another trick up his sleeve.

On the Facebook page Budgeting, Groceries, Saving Ideas, Stocking, Life Help Australia it was shown that the trick only has to do with your car and the placement of the items.

“To keep my budget, I group the groceries in the stores into roughly $ 10 piles,” they wrote in a post, along with a photo of items contained in a shopping cart.

You don’t have to do this exact amount either, which is roughly £ 5.50 as any amount can work depending on your budget.

This way, you can stay on budget without having to think about it at the checkout

In the photo, the buyer has divided a selection of fruits, vegetables, dips, delicacies and other items into eight groups within the cart.

They revealed that the entire store was priced at around $ 80 – which was known to them before they hit the checkout thanks to the hack.

This particular shop had some “fancy things” that they “don’t always get,” which meant they got far fewer items than the budget normally allows.

But they said the idea was to “keep track” to avoid the cash register shock.

The post garnered hundreds of comments from people who were quite impressed with the hack.
