The Champion Stakes wallet has increased by £ 450,000 from last year Addeybb won the big race under Tom Marquand.

The prize money for the entire meeting, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this fall and is the UK’s richest racing day, is up 60% from £ 2.5 million last year.

The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, which were only worth £ 650,000 last season, will now carry a prize pot of over £ 1 million.

The three remaining group races on the map have also received a cash injection and are each worth half a million.

Sheikh Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Thani, Director of QIPCO, said: “We are proud to sponsor QIPCO British Champions Day, the most precious day on the British racing calendar.

“We are delighted that this year’s Race Day, which marks the 10th anniversary of our sponsorship, is being held for £ 4 million.

“The day has established itself at the height of the global racing calendar and it is only fitting that the prize money should reflect that.”

Master trainer John Gosden has been a critic of the low prize money in the past.

And he welcomed the news and said, “We are very grateful to QIPCO and the British Champions Series for making such a valuable day of racing.
