A FOURTH stimulus check is in the hands of Congress, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki, adding that payments are “not free”.

“We’ll see what members of Congress suggest,” Psaki said last week when asked about the possibility of a fourth stimulus check.

She then added the payments “weren’t free.”

Psaki’s comments come as the IRS continues to send out additional weekly stimulus checks to people who have not yet received their payments as part of the third round of aid payments.

With Biden’s American rescue plan gaining traction, many Americans wonder if they would be getting a fourth check anytime soon.

Psaki’s remarks, however, did little to allay the fears of some Americans relying on this fourth check.

On Monday, President Joe Biden said thousands of restaurants will receive aid payments, but it was unclear whether that was a clue for a fourth stimulus check.

“Today we’re sending the first relief checks to 16,000 badly affected restaurants so that many more can follow,” said Biden. “There will be a lot more people busy.”

Though many Republicans oppose another economic bailout, over 75 Democratic lawmakers have asked Biden to send out $ 2,000 monthly checks instead of a fourth stimulus check.
