ITI trainees design revolving cars and present themselves on National Technology Day.

National Technology Day in India is celebrated on May 11th each year to commemorate the achievement of engineers and scientists in the field of technology. On that day, our technocrats tested and fired Shakti-1, Nuclear Missile on the Pokhran test track in Rajasthan, under the direction of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

In addition, the Hansa-2.3 designed by the National Aerospace Laboratory was launched. This year the theme of the National Technology Day is “Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future”.

The students of the ITI in Berhampur, the eleventh largest ITI in the country, have been nominated by the Indian government. During the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, this ITI developed 15 innovative products. The technical expertise to provide assistance to the government. in the fight against the COVID virus. Four of these products were patented and bottled and published in the patent journal.

On this occasion, the students and staff developed an excellent innovative project designed by engineers.

Most of the parts used have been brought from scrap and the other parts are designed and developed in the institute’s CNC tool room and lathe workshop.

The car is powered by a 3-phase squeak housing induction motor with 2 HP and a speed of 1480 rpm. The ITI students put their skills to the test and reduced the speed by five levels to 1 rpm with V-belt pulley, helical gears and bevel gears. The driveshaft supported by two tilt roller bearings and a Bell Threst bearing that takes the load of the car.

Most of the parts used have been brought from scrap and the other parts are designed and developed in the institute’s CNC tool room and lathe workshop. This project is a place for technical visits for mechanics and graduate students in the country.
