Circo Loco
Natasha Denona Circo Loco 15-Pan Eyeshadow PaletteNatasha Denona Circo Loco 15-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($129.00 for 1.2 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that included six matte eyeshadows and nine shimmer eyeshadows. The palette performed consistently with the brand’s formula over the last couple of years: very pigmented, smooth and creamy textures, blendable, and easy to work with.
There were no real duds in the palette; the weakest shade was Magic, a matte purple, but that was buildable, fairly blendable, and very workable. The brand’s more metallic formula is usually a pleasure to use, and that was very much true with this palette! I wish the brand would forego the $129 palette format and just offer the $65 midi form, which is still plenty of product per shade.

Firework (359CM)
Firework (359CM) is a vivid, medium-dark orange with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had rich color payoff in a single layer, which adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely. The texture was soft, smooth, and substantial without being too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan. It lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview
–
The majority of the brand’s eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they’re applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted–it is a bit more yielding now.

Natasha Denona Razzle Dazzle (360SM) Metallic Eye Shadow
Razzle Dazzle (360SM)
Razzle Dazzle (360SM) is a brighter, medium-dark raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of pink and magenta sparkle over a metallic finish. The texture was moderately dense, lightly creamy, and slightly thick compared to other metallics in the palette, though I felt like this gave it better adhesion and helped the sparkles to stay on rather than result in fallout. It had opaque color payoff that wore well for nine hours before fading visibly.

Acrobat (361CP)
Acrobat (361CP) is a medium-dark blue with subtle, cool undertones and a natural matte finish. It was a cream-to-powder formula, so it felt more emollient and lightly cream-like in the pan, and it retained some of the glide on my skin while applying and blending it out.
It dried down and stayed put more like a powder eyeshadow after a few seconds. I’d recommend using a denser brush when picking up product initially. It had mostly opaque coverage that built up easily with a second layer. It stayed on well for nine hours but stained slightly.

Cotton Candy (363M)
Cotton Candy (363M) is a light-medium pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, lightly powdery but substantial enough that it didn’t sheer out too readily. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation that was blendable and easy to work with. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Electrick (364M)
Electrick (364M) is a brighter, medium-dark blue with strong, cool undertones and a soft, metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly, but it had a more emollient texture that made it harder to diffuse the edges without them looking ragged.
It worked fine packed all over the lid, but I’d recommend using another shade to blend out the edge (e.g. a matte blue in the crease). It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before showing signs of wear.

Cannon (366M)
Cannon (366M) is a medium copper with strong, warm undertones and a lightly sparkling, metallic finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which built up to full coverage with less than a second layer. The texture was soft, more loosely-pressed, which resulted in light fallout during application but not during wear. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Flip (367M)
Flip (367M) is a bright, medium-dark teal with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of lighter green and bluish-teal sparkle over a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation paired with a lightly creamy, moderately dense texture that still picked up well with a brush and wasn’t overly thick, so I didn’t experience it adding texture to my lid. It stayed on nicely for nine hours before creasing faintly.

Formula Overview
$29.00/0.08 oz. – $362.50 Per Ounce

Fun-tomime (368CP)
Fun-tomime (368CP) is a light, sky blue with moderate, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had a cream-to-powder formula behind it, which made it less powdery than it could have been for such a light, pastel-like hue.
The consistency wasn’t as emollient as most of the cream-to-powders I’ve tried (including Acrobat in this palette), but it was easier to work with and sat better on my skin than similar-hued true powder formulations.
It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that blended out well but was best applied pressed and patted on, then blended out for evenness. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Spiral (369M)
Spiral (369M) is a brighter, medium orange with warmer, more yellow undertones and a metallic sheen with faint pink and gold pearl throughout. It had opaque color coverage that adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that was blendable and easy to work with.
The texture was soft, smooth, and not quite as creamy or as dense as other metallics in the palette–a smidgen more powdery in comparison but definitely not powdery. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Magic (370CM)
Magic (370CM) is a darker purple with muted, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had more medium to semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a moderately powdery texture that was slightly thinner and less smooth compared to other mattes.
It’s a massive improvement from the last time I experienced a more matte, cooler-toned purple from the brand (years ago!), and in the realm of matte purples, it was pretty easy to work with but not nearly as good as the brand’s matte eyeshadows tend to be. It took a little more effort to blend out, and it was more reactive to any natural oils on the skin. There were signs of fading present after eight and a half hours of wear.

Aerialist (371SM)
Aerialist (371SM) is a light and bright, grayish-lavender with warm undertones and flecks of pink and gold sparkle over a metallic finish. It was particularly shiny and reflective, so it could look cooler or warmer depending on what shades surrounded it.
The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and dense without being too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan. It yielded opaque color coverage that adhered evenly, blended well, and lasted for nine hours on me before creasing faintly.

Act (372CM)
Act (372CM) is a rich, deeper purple with cooler undertones and flecks of red and purple sparkle throughout a soft, metallic sheen. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well along the edges.
It had light fallout during application when I blended it out, and I noticed that the finish seemed to look slightly softer and color a bit more faded compared to the initial application. It had a lightly creamy, moderately dense texture that picked up well with a dry brush. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.
