It had medium, somewhat buildable pigmentation as marketed that lasted four hours (which was much shorter than marketed) but felt slightly moisturizing.

The formula is said to have a “transparent, buildable color” that provides moisture and at the same time is long-lasting with “six hours” of shine and “eight hours” of color.

These primarily have an unexpectedly long shelf life. Eight hours of wearing time is a masterpiece for any lipstick, let alone one that is more transparent, brighter and moisturizing. It’s probably not a shock that they haven’t worn for nearly eight hours. Wear times ranged from three to four hours, which was in line with other, brighter formulas with similar coverage and was slightly longer than the average Luster lipstick in the past (although it is consistent with the recently released Lustres).

The updated version of the Luster finish is smoother, creamier and has more even coverage. It’s still a lighter, thinner consistency when compared to the other lipsticks from MAC and most of the other lipstick formulas on the market. The colors that were brought back into the new formula were pretty consistent with the previous versions.

Most shades that were applied evenly did not seem to catch or highlight any texture imperfections on my lips and did not tend to set in my lip lines. That being said, the current range is stronger around midtones, and it is often very light hues that can be the culprits in both.

Opacity ranged from semi-transparent to medium, and most shades were buildable to semi-opaque, although they tended to have medium opacity within an hour or so of wear. I found that once some of the sheen had worn off, e.g. B. If you drank from a glass of water or dabbed lightly, the color that remained was more like the first layer of product.

They smelled of vanilla but had no noticeable taste.
