Twitter boss Jack Dorsey resigned on Monday and Parag Agrawal of Indian origin is to be his successor.
Parag is a graduate of IIT Bombay who served as chief technology officer at the microblogging platform.
Agrawal had a PhD in computer science from the prestigious Stanford University.

He joined Twitter in 2011 and has been Chief Technology Officer responsible for the network’s technical strategy since October 2017.
He previously worked at AT&T, Microsoft Corporation and Yahoo. According to PeopleAI, Agrawal has an estimated net worth of $ 1.52 million.
After his resignation, Dorsey praised Agrawal and said: “My trust in Parag as CEO of Twitter is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformative. I am deeply grateful for his skills, his heart and his soul. It is his time to lead. ”
Bret Taylor, the new chairman of Twitter, said, “I know he will get started right away to strengthen execution and deliver results. The board has complete confidence in Parag. “

Dorsey will remain on the Board of Directors until the end of his term at the 2022 Shareholders’ Meeting.

In 2020, Dorsey was asked by Elliott Management Corp to step down after the hedge fund argued it was paying too little attention to Twitter while also running payment processing firm Square Inc.
Dorsey fought off pressure by getting Elliott and his ally, buyout firm Silver Lake Partners, seats on the Twitter board of directors.
He is credited with the idea for Twitter when later co-founder Evan Williams gave the employees of the blogging startup Odeo two weeks to work on fun new projects to break up everyday life.
