ERLING HAALAND turned down an offer from Manchester United on the advice of his advisor Mino Raiola – even though they offered more money.

This is what Borussia Dortmund’s head coach Hans-Joachim Watzke says, who admitted that the Bundesliga team made a lower offer for the outstanding striker.

But the CEO claims Superagent Raiola realized that his client would thrive with the German giants reputed to bleed top young talent.

Watzke told Sport1: “The offer from Manchester United was better. However, Mino Raiola noticed that Erling is in better hands with us. “

Haaland moved from Red Bull Salzburg to Dortmund in January 2020 and became one of the best strikers in the world at the age of just 21.

United was tied to a £ 76m offer back in December 2019, but the Norwegian moved to Signal Iduna Park for just £ 18m instead.

Since then, he has scored 70 goals in 69 games for the club and has attracted additional admirers from almost all European heavyweights.

Watzke recently admitted that it would be difficult for Dortmund to keep their goalscorer next year.

The club is also facing a battle for the services of English starlet Jude Bellingham.

The 18-year-old is considered one of the brightest talents in world football and is on Liverpool’s radar under former Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp.

Bellingham has starred in Germany after arriving from Birmingham for a £ 30m deal last year.

Dortmund’s sports director Sebastian Kehl has admitted the Reds’ interest – but warned that the midfielder has no release clause and would cost every buyer mega-money.
