In a letter dated October 18, Brian Simpson alleges, “The poor oversight of school reconstruction projects by the Republican leadership-led Permanent Municipal Buildings Committee has cost a lot of taxpayers’ money in the form of cost overruns.”
The PMBC contains several Democratic members of whom Mr. Simpson boasts of “speaking consistently”.[s] high “. If this project was really” overrun “, why didn’t Democratic officials submit this to the city council, which would have to approve additional spending?
While some line items may have been overspend, the real project cost for Ledyard Middle School was $ 500,000 less than pre-build, and Gallup Hill School was $ 250,000 less, bringing down nearly $ 1 million. Dollars were saved.
We must thank the Republican leadership of Ledyard!
After all, as opposed to previously using various ad hoc committees for each project, creating a PMBC was the idea of Republican Council President Linda Davis. This Ledyard Republican innovation has brought consistency to the management of numerous projects, delivering significant savings and added value for Ledyard taxpayers!
