MAC Achiote lipstick ($ 21.00 for 0.1 oz.) Is a lighter shade of medium pink coral with soft, warm undertones and a creamy cream finish. For the most part, it had opaque paint coverage in a single layer, although the lipstick was not as forgiving of texture defects and could have been applied more evenly as a result.

The consistency was light, slightly emollient, but not slippery, which made it comfortable to wear but did not tend to slip. It wore well for three and a half hours and felt slightly moisturizing over time.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and pigmentation and wear and tear usually depend on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to only wear a few hours and have sheer coverage (as intended) and won’t dry out.

Some of the original matte paints have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a velvety silicone feel, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most matte paints are fairly pigmented and long-lasting, although some dry.

The Amplified and Satin finishes usually have good pigmentation, a slightly creamy to moderately creamy consistency with a bit of sheen, and a moderate to long shelf life with deeper, richer hues that are worn longer. The frost and metallic finishes show the greatest variance between the colors with an opacity from semi-transparent to opaque with average wear and tear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks smell of vanilla, but have no discernible taste.

MAC Nutmeg Lipstick ($ 21.00 for 0.1 oz.) Is a darker, dusty coral with muted, warm undertones and a satin finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth consistency that was dense, slightly creamy, and easy to apply in a liquid stroke. The lipstick was applied evenly and didn’t accentuate my lip lines or lip texture. This shade lasted a good four and a half hours and didn’t feel drying out.
