Anastasia Hot Sand Stick Highlighter Anastasia Hot Sand Stick Highlighter ($ 34.00 for 0.28 oz.) Is a medium-sized copper with warm, bronze-colored undertones and a lighter, golden sheen that gives it a soft sheen. It had semi-opaque paint release in a single layer so I had to use a lighter hand to get better buildable coverage than it should have.
The texture was light and pliable at first, but felt more powdery once it came in contact with my skin, and I felt like I had to work very quickly to ensure a mixed layer of product as it wasn’t that maneuverable after drying. It was easiest to work with bare skin, and when I tried to use it over foundation I had to apply it with my fingertips (instead of a brush, which is a recommended method per brand – it even comes with a brush ) at one end) as a brush tended to push the product around and create some lifting / staining. This shade lasted a good seven and a half hours before noticeably fading.

The formula is said to have an “adjustable glow” with an “ultra-gentle” consistency that “melts easily” on the skin. The opacity was described as “buildable” which was true – most shades were medium to semi-opaque, but the more emollient nature of the product made it bleed slightly during practice so they were more buildable after applying them to my face.
The consistency was slightly softening, thin and glides well, but dried quickly and had a powdery finish. It looked a little drier and wasn’t as flattering on my normal to dry skin as other cream-to-powder formulas, so it may be better for oilier skin types. I had no issues with the product lifting the foundation, so it worked fine on both bare skin and complexion products – as long as I used my fingertips to apply and blend.
Because of the fast drying time, I found fingertips to be the most flexible and easiest to apply the product. Using a paintbrush made job more prone to unevenly, bunching up, or lifting base products. The formula lasted between seven and eight hours for me.
