A famous British brand adored by Hollywood stars was recently launched in Australia, causing women to “go broke” their supplies.
I’ve had tons of text messages from friends over the past week that go something like this, “OMG, I just spent $ 400 on Charlotte Tilbury.”
The legendary British beauty brand finally found its way into stores Down Under after partnering with Mecca on September 21st.
That means his famous products can now be found in 59 Mecca stores in Australia and New Zealand, as well as online, and it’s fair to say that beauty lovers have had big celebrations.
Along with my friends, people documented their Charlotte Tilbury promotions online, and many admitted that their bank balances had suffered massive damage.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of smacking a Charlotte Tilbury product all over your face, then prepare to metaphorically die and go to heaven.
Its products are so popular that some of the biggest celebrities are vocal Charlotte Tilbury fans. Actress Kaley Cuoco recently raved about the brand’s makeup after wearing it to this year’s Emmy Awards – and Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor has just been announced as the new ambassador.
But as much as we’d all love to own the whole collection, the premium products aren’t cheap – so here are the ones I definitely think are worth the hype.
Charlotte Tilbury airbrush bronzer
Price: $ 74
This bronzer is my all time favorite. It is my point of contact. I don’t go for a day (without lockdown) without it. It’s the support beam of my make-up bag. I love it for its matte formula that gives a really natural, sun-kissed finish. It also blends beautifully with the skin and is easy to assemble without making you look like you’ve had a fight with a paint truck. Even though it’s a powder, it doesn’t dry out my skin like other bronzers and I think that’s because it contains hyaluronic acid. It has a clever “pore-reducing” effect that blurs the skin and makes my face look smoother with one stroke of the brush. For someone on the lighter end of the skin color spectrum, bronzers can be notoriously tricky. But there is no such thing as a terrible orange tinge. I use the medium shade and it’s really nice and so easy to apply.
But there’s something we need to talk about – this bronzer only comes in four hues, which sounds disappointing. Charlotte describes them as “universal” shades that suit everyone (and her brand is known for being extremely inclusive) and after seeing multiple YouTube reviews of women with darker skin tones, many said the famous makeup artist had ” listened ”- but it’s worth noting that there have been online commentators who said the hues aren’t dark enough for everyone.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation
Price: $ 65
That foundation is big on promises. Not only does it promise flawless, long-lasting coverage with its “magic” formula – yes, it really has an ingredient called the complexion product Magic Replexium – it also claims to bridge the gap between makeup and skin care, and claims that this will moisturize and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. When I tried it on its launch in 2019, I was actually nervous about using it and had serious doubts as to whether it could deliver. But once this product was applied to my skin, I had to take a double dose. The lightweight formula applies seamlessly and won’t budge no matter what you throw on it. Back when we were able to leave the house, this foundation survived morning trips to work, sweaty workouts in the gym – it works. The finish is of course matte with a slight glow that isn’t too heavy and still looks like my face when it’s on. Its cover is buildable and when I have a spot or breakout it easily covers anything I want to hide. This is a full coverage foundation that doesn’t feel like you’ve put it on (no wrinkling), so it works for those who prefer a lighter look too. And there are 44 shades so everyone can join in.
Charlotte Tilbury Darling Easy Eye Palette
Price: $ 85
I love this palette. It’s filled with perfect day-to-night colors that I keep using over and over again. Charlotte said she curated this six-pan palette to help people recreate their own signature smoky eye, which she thinks was inspired by her favorite view of the world – a sunset on the party island of Ibiza. Having been to the Spanish hotspot a few years ago, I can confirm CT nailed it (of course). The warm pink and copper tones mix easily and harmonize better than bread with butter. The pigments are really noticeable and super easy to blend, and of course the packaging is also luxurious and has a large mirror, despite being a compact palette. It’s also great for those beginners to eyeshadow as the pans are labeled in the order you need to apply them for a complete look.
