Dior Toile de Jouy (429) 5 colors couture eyeshadow palette ($ 62.00 for 0.24 oz.) Is a new (er) warmer neutral color story that featured a mix of finishes that ranged from matte to glitter. This palette suffered from an overall powder / dryness compared to most of the brand’s eye shadows. Most shades had semi-opaque or better coverage and were mixable, but they absolutely required a primer underneath and would likely sing for someone who tends to prefer a softer / sheer effect.

Toile de Jouy # 1
Toile de Jouy # 1 is a light peach with warmer, more golden undertones and a pearl that changes from pink to orange. It had a predominantly opaque color coverage that could be built up until it was completely covered. The texture was soft, smooth, and mixable without being too tight or too soft to squeeze into the pan. It wore on well for seven and a half hours before fading.

There were some shades that looked more glittery and transparent, more like layered tones, while the other finishes were more pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense, with the matte shades being a bit thinner and a little powdery in the pan when compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic tones.
Aside from these shimmery shades, the formula was mixable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted for me an average of eight hours (without primer).

Toile de Jouy # 2
Toile de Jouy # 2 is a very light, peach-colored beige with warm undertones and a sparkling finish. The texture was a little more powdery in the base but still seemed to have decent adhesion, which resulted in the larger glossy spots staying on the lid instead of all of them falling off. There was still a lot of fallout going on though, so I’d recommend using it with a dampened brush or fingertip to press it into the skin better. It had a semi-opaque coverage that held me well for seven hours.

Toile de Jouy # 4 is a darker, reddish coral with a satin finish. It had an opaque color release, paired with a soft, smooth consistency that was a bit firmer in the pan, but picked up well with a dry brush and blended without difficulty. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours before it visibly faded.

Toile de Jouy # 5 is a medium taupe brown with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow felt soft, finely ground, and was very mixable, but if I wasn’t careful it was lightly powdery and a hint of fallout. The pigmentation was semi-opaque and buildable and lasted a good seven and a half hours with me.
