Chanel Low Key (74) Rouge Allure Velvet ($ 40.00 for 0.12 oz.) Is a soft, dusty pinky coral with moderate, warm undertones and an off-white finish. It had a semi-opaque paint release that was applied fairly evenly but settled in my lip lines.

The texture was light, smooth and thin without being clingy, with a very velvety glide that didn’t feel as soft as it looked on my lips. It wasn’t the most forgiving formula for lip texture / imperfections, unfortunately. It lasted three hours and was slightly moisturizing when worn.

The Rouge Allure Velvet formula is said to be a “non-drying matt lipstick” with an “intensely rich, long-lasting color” and has a “velvet matt finish”. Over time, I’ve felt like the formula has improved and actually isn’t drying (the original introduction didn’t wear off well on me) to slightly drying (seen more in shades that lasted six to eight hours). The pigmentation varies from shade to shade, but is usually semi-opaque to opaque with a semi-matt to semi-matt finish. The texture had a velvety, slippery feel that didn’t feel particularly creamy or wet, but the lipstick is comfortable to wear for the four to six hours it typically lasts. Like most of Chanel’s lip products, they have a rosy scent, but no noticeable taste.

Chanel mode (75) Rouge Allure Velvet ($ 40.00 for 0.12 oz.) Is a vibrant, medium red with warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had a semi-opaque paint cover with a smooth, very light and thin consistency that slid comfortably over my lips without pulling. Although it was pretty thin, it didn’t feel at all. It has worn well for five hours and felt slightly moisturizing over time.
