Lucknow, September 9 (IANS) Three people were arrested by Gomti Nagar police in Lucknow for cloning human fingerprints and then using the prints and Aadhaar cards to withdraw money from the banks.

All three people arrested – Rajesh Rai, Rahul Kumar Rai and Ram Saran Gaur – are from Gorakhpur.

Police have recovered Rs 2.98 lakh from the holdings of the three people arrested on Wednesday.

According to Qasim Abidi, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADCP), East Zone, “Thought leader Rajesh had been working with a private company dealing with people’s KYC details.

“He made duplicate wallets containing the aadhaar numbers of different customers. The gang later accessed data such as bank accounts by exploiting a website.”

He said, “Rajesh said he cloned thumbprints and used those details to withdraw money from banks.”

Further investigations are ongoing, the police said.
