Anastasia Chestnut Cream Bronzer Anastasia Chestnut Cream Bronzer ($ 35.00 for 0.4 oz.) Is a dark maroon with warm undertones and a “naturally matte” finish that didn’t add sheen but didn’t matte. It was similar in depth to hazelnut, but the undertone was warmer and richer, more reddish overall. It had medium buildable pigmentation when applied with a brush and more semi-opaque buildable coverage that was applied with the tip of your finger, though the formula was very brushable and forgiving, so it was more likely to shimmer out when put in one Direction went.

The texture was light, smooth, and moderately emollient with a thin feel that turned into a more powdery finish when applied and blended onto my skin. This shade lasted a good eight hours before showing signs of fading.

PS – you can see this shade here and here as a bronzer / outline on deeper skin tones.

Formula overview

$ 35.00 / 0.4 oz. – $ 87.50 per ounce

The formula is said to be “buildable” and “blend easily” into a “matte, seamless second skin finish” that can be applied “on bare skin” or “over makeup”. They can be used to add warmth and / or definition (by choosing a shade two to three deeper).

The texture was emollient, light and thin with moderate glide, which made it easy to apply to bare skin as well as foundation, even more matte bases. They seemed to be more pigmented when swatching on my arm, but in practice they had a medium opacity that could easily be shimmered out further or built up for greater opacity if desired. This was because the formula had enough lubricity and spreading that it naturally shimmered out as you applied it, so you had to layer it up for a truly opaque coverage.

For greater coverage, apply with your fingertips and allow to dry a little before veneering. Apply with a dab brush for greater coverage. It was a very forgiving formula and hard to overdo.

The formula dried to a matte finish but seemed to let my skin through so it didn’t look flat or dry. They wore well for eight hours before they visibly faded on me.
