Cherry high

ColourPop Cherry Up Glossy Lip Stain ($ 8.00 for 0.21 oz.) Is a rather muted, medium red with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream-colored finish. The gloss appeared warmer and almost brownish when swatching, but developed a pinkish-red stain underneath, which only slightly affected the overall color in a warm tone (this happened within a few minutes).

It initially had a light, more watery consistency that got a bit thicker and a little sticky after a minute of wearing. It had medium buildable pigmentation as marketed that was applied evenly and stayed good for five and a half hours. There was a slight stain that stayed for an hour or so.

Formula overview

$ 8.00 / 0.21 oz. – $ 38.10 an ounce

It is said to have the “long-lasting power of a lip stain” with the “shine of a gloss”, paired with a “medium to buildable coverage” that “does not dry”. The initial texture was almost watery, overly spreadable (and the applicator often picked up more product than needed, so be careful when applying), but dried to a more silky sheen that was less glossy and more like a satined lipstick with some translucence was.

The initial shine wore off within two hours, making it look like a real satin finish – this went for doing nothing or just a glass as it wasn’t transferable. The stain did not get through a meal and tended to leave a very thick ring around the edges of my lips because it wore off so quickly when I ate. Left to their own devices, most sunglasses were worn for about six hours, leaving a faint mark.

It had medium buildable coverage but quickly built up to semi-opaque coverage without an official second coat (just go back and forth to get an even layer of product). A few shades were more true to color to medium and others were more semi-opaque from the first layer on.

There did not seem to be any added fragrance or flavor to wear.

Roll out

ColourPop Roll Out Glossy Lip Stain ($ 8.00 for 0.21 oz.) Is a light coral with warm, orange undertones and a glossy finish. In the end, it looked redder on my lips as the stain underneath was more of a warm red than a coral / orange. It had medium pigmentation in a single layer, which could be built up with a second layer up to an opaque covering power.

The texture was initially light, thin, and more watery, but developed into a gel-like, thicker feel that was slightly sticky. It wore well for five and a half hours, leaving a moderate warm red blotch and overall not feeling dry to the touch.
