Mahzooz draw changes the lives of expats.
A security guard and a cafeteria employee are among the five lucky winners who each share a sizeable amount of Dh200,000 after winning a Dh1 million drawing together in Dubai.
At the 33rd weekly Mahzooz drawing held in Dubai last week, a group of five Indians shared the second prize of Dh1 million after five out of six numbers on their ticket matched the winning entry.
Oman cafeteria attendant Ravoof, who was at work when the draw results were announced, jumped for joy when he saw the hosts broadcast the second prize winning numbers live.
Ravoof is from Kerala and has lived in Oman for five years and said he was a regular participant in the draw. “I’ve been participating in Mahzooz since day one and watch the live draw every Saturday. When I saw the winning numbers on the screen, I started jumping (with joy). I was thrilled and couldn’t believe that I had finally won. I’ve never felt so happy. “
The 27-year-old Keralite, who is now planning his future with the prize money, said: “With this money I can now plan more clearly and confidently for my future. My next step is to get married and have a family of my own. I will also help some of my relatives who supported me in my difficult days. “
Another draw winner who said the win will drastically change his life for the better was 35-year-old security guard Sanjeev, who is staying in Al Ain.
Sanjeev, who has stayed away from his family for the past decade, said the money will help him reunite with his family as he will take them to the United Arab Emirates and show them the beautiful country that they are has provided for all these years. “I’ve been away from my family for 10 years. Thanks to Mahzooz, I can now bring them to the UAE. Seeing my kids again is the best I can dream of. Having her here with me will be like a dream come true. I missed her so much, ”he said.
For 48-year-old Shafi, the third winner of the drawing, luck knocked on his door earlier than expected. “Last Saturday was my second participation in Mahzooz and I never thought that I would win so quickly. I was surprised when I received a call from the Mahzooz team saying that I had won Dh200,000. I was speechless. I feel so blessed and happy, “said Shafi, who is also from Kerala.
Shafi, who works in a pharmacy in Dubai and has lived here for 19 years, says: “This win is a great relief for me as I no longer have to worry about my financial burden. Thanks to Mahzooz for this life changing prize money. “
The other two winners, Mohammed and Prabhu, also come from the southern states of Hyderabad and Chennai, but live with their families in the United Arab Emirates.
While Mohammed, a businessman from Sharjah, plans to donate some of his prize money to charities; Prabhu said he will use the money to build his dream home in his home country.
If you missed the live draw last week, you can take part in Mahzooz by registering at www.mahzooz.ae and buying a bottle of water. Every bottle of water purchased (for Dh 35) is eligible for a raffle and the donation is channeled through Mahzooz’s community partners to provide those in need with fluids.
The next drawing will take place as scheduled on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 9:00 p.m. UAE time.
