The Colors of Sapphire: 20 eyeshadow color combinations for September
Sapphires are quite sophisticated as they come in a huge range of colors. The “common” color is a rich blue, but within blue it can really range from pale aqua to almost blue-black.
I learned about the color palette when I redesigned my wedding set to revolve around sapphires and later a necklace in honor of Mellan (and reusing my old engagement stone)! You can also find sapphires in these hues: yellow, orange, lavender, green, peach, pink, purple, and even gray.
That being said, with so many options it feels a little less focused and “deceitful” so I’ll lean into the lighter blue all the way to the deeper blue, sometimes tending towards blue-green, over the less common shades – but you can choose the spectrum of blue find complemented by the less common shades.
About this series
Each look idea revolves around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that, depending on the skin tone, one could bring in the right browbone or an additional transition color. Think of these ideas as a stepping stone with four “core” colors that can inspire your next look. For reference, based on how I normally apply makeup, I would consider applying the colors in this order: inner lid, center of lid, outer lid / crease and crease / above crease or lid.
