The colors of the chameleons: 20 eye shadow color combinations for June

June birthstones include pearl, moonstone, and alexandrite. For this month’s color combinations, I took inspiration from pearls, with their softer, more luminous sheen, as well as the iridescent or duochromatic nature of many of their hues (since they come in a variety of colors!) – freshwater pearls are often lighter, more pastel colored, while Tahiti- Pearls tend to be darker and range from green to purple to black. Moonstones sometimes appear almost translucent with a lot of bluish, iridescent sheen. Alexandrite is a real color-changing gemstone that appears red to purple-red in incandescent light and green to bluish-green in daylight.

About this series

Each look idea revolves around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that, depending on the skin tone, one could bring in the right browbone or additional transitional shades. I know I’m more likely to use five or six shades in a typical look, but I think four is a good means of giving a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while also giving the opportunity to lighten up / darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, lid center, outer lid / kink and kink / over kink or lid.

You may see combinations that are slightly repetitive but the placement varies (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and shimmery shade is placed in the center) as the placement can create a different effect / look too! You may also want to consider your preferred matte / shimmer tones (if applicable) to add versatility to certain palettes. Use these ideas as a starting point!
